Get the latest Ledger Live Desktop for your OS (Windows, macOS, Linux). Install and launch.
Plug in your Ledger hardware wallet and enter your PIN to unlock access.
Open the “Manager” tab. You may need to enable USB on your device. Install desired crypto apps (e.g. Bitcoin, Ethereum) directly.
Use “Add Account” to include supported coins or tokens. Ledger Live will scan and add relevant addresses.
Use “Send”, “Receive”, “Swap”, or “Stake” functions. Any transaction must be confirmed on your physical device—increasing security.
Private Keys Stay Offline: Ledger Live Desktop never has access to your private keys. All signing is delegated to the hardware device.
Physical Confirmation Required: Each transaction must be manually approved on your Ledger device, thwarting remote or automated attacks.
No Cloud Storage: Portfolio info is stored locally. Ledger Live does not automatically upload sensitive data.
Secure Element Hardware: Ledger devices use certified secure elements (e.g. CC EAL5+) to protect against physical tampering and side-channel attacks.
